Common questions

Why does the app download voices?

To keep the app small. One voice, the Northern female voice, comes with the app and works with no connection. The other voices are downloaded when your child picks one, and quietly a couple of minutes after the app opens, when Settings is opened, or when the app goes to the background. Until a voice is ready, the bundled voice keeps reading.

Does it work without the internet?

Yes. Practice, tests, tracing and the break game all work offline. Only a voice that has not been downloaded yet needs a connection, once.

A voice will not download. What can I do?

Check that the device is online, then tap Thử lại under the voice, in Settings or in the buddy maker. Each voice is checked before it is used, so a broken download is fetched again rather than played.

Which accents are there?

Miền Bắc and Miền Nam. Choose one in Settings or while making the buddy; one voice then reads everything, questions and the buddy's lines alike.

Where is my child's progress kept?

On the device, in the app's own storage, with a small copy in the device's Keychain so that installing the app again does not lose it. If your device backs itself up, for example to iCloud, the backup can include it, as it does other apps' data. Deleting the app removes the files but not the Keychain copy.

Do I need an account?

A few lessons of each subject, some break games and the first buddy choices are free to try without one. Full access needs an account. There is no sign-up in the app: we create the account for a grown-up on request, so write to us. Without an internet connection the app keeps working for the plan's days.

I forgot my password.

Tap Quên mật khẩu? on the sign-in card. A code is sent to you by us, then you choose a new password. You can also change it in Settings, under the account details.

Who sees my child's name on the national board?

Other children on the board see the name typed in the app, the score and the last four digits of the account's phone number. Unsuitable names are replaced with "Bạn nhỏ". Deleting the account removes the scores. See the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

In Settings, open the account details and choose to delete the account; it asks for the password. Or write to us.

Is there a Mac or Android version?

Not yet. Both are planned; for now Chăm Luyện is for iPhone and iPad.
